Jordan and the United States launched a USD 78.2 million partnership to prepare national water infrastructure to receive and distribute water from the NCP.

Jordan and the United States signed a USD 78.2 million partnership agreement to support infrastructure readiness for the National Conveyance Project. The programme is funded by a USD 69 million grant from the United States Government, with the Government of Jordan contributing USD 9.2 million. The programme will prepare Jordan's water infrastructure to receive, convey and distribute the additional water that will become available through the National Conveyance Project. It includes priority water infrastructure, engineering design and supervision, institutional capacity building and technologies to improve network performance. The package is the first major component under the wider National Conveyance Project Readiness Programme, which encompasses 11 major water-infrastructure projects across the Kingdom with an estimated investment of approximately USD 850 million. The investment is designed to ensure that the benefits of the National Conveyance Project extend beyond the main desalination and conveyance system by strengthening the national infrastructure required to distribute the additional water effectively.
