The Cabinet approved a USD 203 million US grant supporting implementation of the National Conveyance Project and Jordan's long-term water security.
The Council of Ministers approved a USD 203 million grant agreement with the United States Government to support the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project - the National Conveyance Project. The approval forms part of government efforts to advance implementation of the strategic project and complete the financial arrangements required to move toward construction. The National Conveyance Project is one of Jordan's largest strategic infrastructure investments and a central component of the Kingdom's long-term water-security framework. Once operational, the project is designed to provide 300 million cubic meters of desalinated drinking water annually from Aqaba, establishing a sustainable additional source of water for Jordan. The US contribution forms part of the wider international financing and development partnership supporting implementation of the project.
