Jordan signed the initial Project Agreement for the National Conveyance Project, marking a major step toward financial close and implementation.

The Government of Jordan signed the initial Project Agreement for the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project - the National Conveyance Project - with the project company led by Meridiam and Suez. The agreement was signed at the Prime Ministry in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan by Minister of Water and Irrigation Eng. Raed Abu Saud and a representative of the investor consortium. The signing marked an important step toward completing the project's financing arrangements and advancing the technical and engineering preparations required for implementation. The National Conveyance Project is designed to produce 300 million cubic meters of desalinated water annually from the Gulf of Aqaba and convey it north through a major pipeline and pumping system. The project will also include renewable energy components. The project is being implemented through a public-private partnership under a Build-Operate-Transfer model. Following the concession period, ownership will transfer to the Government of Jordan. The National Conveyance Project is a central component of Jordan's long-term response to water scarcity and is designed to establish a sustainable new source of drinking water for the Kingdom.
