Article content

Royal-level oversight establishes the project's national priority and reinforces the implementation timeline.

His Majesty King Abdullah II, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, chaired a meeting to review government preparations for implementation of the National Conveyance Project. The meeting reviewed progress on the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project, one of Jordan's most vital national projects and a key component of the Economic Modernisation Vision. The project is designed to provide around 300 million cubic meters of potable water annually by desalinating seawater from the Gulf of Aqaba and conveying it to Amman and other governorates. His Majesty directed the Government to ensure readiness of water-sector infrastructure and alignment with the project's technical requirements, while assessing financial, technical and legal aspects through comprehensive and proactive planning. The King also stressed adherence to the project timeline and the importance of clearly communicating the project's phases, objectives and progress to the public.
